. Choć nie był muzykiem, Granz (6.08.1918 Los Angeles † 22.11.2001 Genewa) miał ogromny wkład w popularyzację jazzu i kariery wielu największych artystów tego gatunku - poprzez działalność swoich wytwórni Clef, Norgran i Verve.
Norman Granz kochał pracować z muzyką i muzykami, ale stał się także orędownikiem afroamerykańskich muzyków w czasach, gdy byli oni często wykorzystywani i lekceważeni.
