Na pocz±tku 1996 roku Bob Dylan zacz±³ pisaæ pierwsze nowe piosenki od wydanego w 1990 roku kr±¿ka „Under the Red Sky”, natomiast w okresie od sierpnia do pa¼dziernika w Teatro Studio w Oxnord nagrywano ten materia³. Sesja nagraniowa zakoñczy³a siê na pocz±tku 1997 roku, kiedy Dylan przeniós³ siê do innego studia nagraniowego – Criteria Studio w Miami. Do³±czyli do niego m.in.
